All About Charleston was born out of a passion for sharing history with others.​  As residents of the "Holy City", we want to show everyone what a great place Charleston really is.  Join us on an exciting tour that will keep you talking about Charleston for years to come!

Lisa has always loved the sun and the southern charm of Charleston, South Carolina. As a new teacher and young mom in the early 90’s, she enjoyed living in nearby Walterboro and taking week-end trips to explore the quaint towns around the Holy City. Through these years, she learned to enjoy the slow pace of life in the south. But, life took many twists and turns and landed her back in West Virginia years later where she met Jeff and they merged their lives and six kids.

 

Over the course of more than twenty years, Lisa has worked with performing groups in and out of the classroom. She has toured and adjudicated with choral and instrumental groups throughout the East Coast as well as maintaining an active private instruction practice. Although her past was teaching music, Lisa currently works as a holistic nutritionist, intuitive healer and youth consultant working with clients throughout the US.

 

Currently, Lisa spends the majority of her time researching and plotting romantic excursions for our sister company, All About Romance. Contemplating travel, great restaurants, hotels and churches now take up a lot of her time as she loves the planning and organizing aspect of the All About Destinations brand. Travel has always been about the adventure and the excitement as well as the planning and those are the qualities that Lisa hopes to share with each and every client who connects with the All About Destinations brand.

Jeff is the vision behind All About Charleston.  His vision to provide a quality and personal tour experience in Charleston has become... All About Charleston.  In addition to providing top-quality tour opportunities, All About Charleston incorporates a keen sense of the travel industry in general.  It is this vision that motivates Jeff every day.

As a young boy growing up in West Virginia, Jeff became interested in tales of WWII from his father and the Civil War from his grandmother.  He was especially intrigued by stories of his father's ship, the USS Hobson.  His father had told him that the USS Hobson was built in the Charleston Navy Yard and sank in the Atlantic in 1952 among other stories.  His grandmother related stories of his family during the 1860s. The Caplinger family ran a Confederate hospital during the Civil War and Jeff is the proud owner of several Civil War relics handed down through his family over five generations.  Add stories of pirates, ghosts etc. and history seems to come alive.  In college, Jeff combined his love of the past and jazz music, majoring in history and music.  Years later, Lisa suggested that they move the family to the Charleston, SC area.  Since this was the cradle of the Confederacy and the home of the USS Hobson memorial, Jeff felt that his world was coming full circle and enthusiastically told Lisa... YES!  As a lasting tribute, Jeff has donated all of his father's US Navy belongings to the American Military History Museum at the Citadel Mall.
