Stroll Through Nearly 350 Years of History!

This walking tour is designed for those who want to get up close and personal to the history of one of America's most famous cities.  Experience nearly 350 years of history as we stroll and explore many of the famous areas of historic Charleston.  This tour includes narration on many of Charleston's most important homes and areas.

This is a 2.5 hour stroll through much of the famed historic district of the Holy City... Charleston!  Areas included on this walking tour include: East Bay Street, Church Street, Meeting Street, Rainbow Row, Chalmers Street, The Battery and the City Market.

Along this wonderful journey into the past, you will pass many Charleston landmarks such as The Old Exchange and Provost Dungeon, Powder Magazine, Fireproof Building, St. Michael's Episcopal Church, The Dock Street Theater, St. Philips Episcopal Church, Mills House Hotel, White Point Garden, Charleston Harbor, The Calhoun Mansion, Four Corners of Law, Washington Park, and many others.  Along the way, you will see many things that might look familiar.  The familiarity is due to the fact that Charleston is one of the premier movie locations in the south.  See areas featured in movies such as "The Notebook", "The Patriot", "Reap The Wild Wind" "North and South" and more.

Founded in 1670, Charles Towne was originally a proprietary colony.  Named after King Charles II of England, Charles Towne became an important city in the colonies.  At one time, Charles Towne was the wealthiest colony south of Philadelphia.  Eventually, Charles Towne became a British crown colony and  rid themselves of proprietary rule.  During the American Revolution, more battles were fought in South Carolina than any other colony.  Following the Revolution, Charles Towne became Charleston and part of the new state of South Carolina.  Discover the nearly 350 years on history in America's most beautiful city!
